Single Identity Number, e-KTP will minimize corruption: Minister..
FBI, Single identity numbers (SIN) and electronic identity cards (e-KTP) as a centralized identity management system will minimize possible corruption once they are launched by 2012, Home Minister Gamawan Fauzi says.
“The Single Identity Number and E-KTP are both important not only to manage and register birth and mortality rates, but also to minimize corruption, and other security threats related to people mobility,” Gamawan said Tuesday during an anti-corruption forum in Jakarta.
This centralized identity management system, supervised by the Home Ministry, will be managed under the same population-data structure for multiple purposes.
Gamawan added his office was currently constructing the system, which would be in line with a
2011 presidential instruction on corruption.
The instruction, he said, was aimed at improving the monitoring system at ministries and government institutions, especially the National Police, the Attorney General's Office and tax directorate general at the Finance Ministry.
