Infantry captain Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, the eldest son of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, has graduated a Maneuver Captain Career Course (MCCC) at Fort Benning, US, with flying colors.
The 20-week course was held under the auspices of the Maneuver Center of Excellence to prepare captains for company commands and posts as staff officers at battalion and brigade levels.
Agus gave a striking performance during the course and received three awards, as said in a release received by The Jakarta Post on Thursday.
An awards ceremony was held on Wednesday at Fort Benning.
Agus, who attended the course as an International Military Student with 19 others from 18 countries, was named a Distinguished Honor Graduate.
Each year, two Distinguished Honor Graduate Awards are presented to one US officer and one International Military Student (IMS) officer respectively. The US officer who received the award was Captain Gary Klein from the US Army.
Agus also received the Commandant’s List award for his exceptional performance during the MCCC.
“Selection for the Commandant’s List is based upon both academic performance… and Board of Instructors’ appraisal of the “whole-man” concept. This year, only one International Military Student (Captain Agus Yudhoyono, Indonesian Army) was placed on the Commandant’s List,” the release read.
The recipient of the award must have exceeded all course standards and completed with an overall academic average of at least 90 percent. Agus’ was 92 percent.
Agus, who graduated with his class of around 200 army captains, also won the Order of Saint Maurice medallion. The recipient of this medallion “must have served the Infantry community with distinction, must have demonstrated a significant contribution in support of the Infantry and must represent the highest standards of integrity, moral character, professional competence and dedication to duty,” the release said.
This year, Agus was the only one who was nominated and qualified to receive the Order of Saint Maurice.
The Indonesian army also sent Infantry Captain Honi Havana to attend the course.
