Approximately Rp 4.7 trillion in foreign funds flew into Indonesia's stock and debt markets within a week from Dec. 4 to 10 on the back of positive global sentiment, a Bank Indonesia (BI) official says.
BI spokesman Difi Johansyah said in a statement on Tuesday that foreign investors mainly bought stocks and government bonds (SUN) last week, pushing the capital inflows to a total of Rp 200 trillion throughout the year as of Dec. 10.
“Foreign ownership in SBI rose to 27.1 percent (Rp 54.25 trillion) from 26 percent within a week,” he said in the statement. Meanwhile, the Finance Ministry’s debt management office data showed that foreign ownership of SUN reached 30.47 percent as of Dec. 9, or at Rp 195.76 trillion.
About 59 percent of the funds in the Indonesian stock exchange is controlled by foreign investors, Indonesian Central Securities Depository data showed.(eLv)
